Founded by 3 gay dive enthusiasts in 1988, Barnacle Busters has grown to a membership of over 150. We believe we are the oldest and largest LGBT dive club in the country. We draw members from Orange County, and many other communities on Southern California. The club typically holds monthly meetings on the third Wednesday of each month, alternating between Silver Lake/Los Angeles and Long Beach (to include the Orange County area). Each meeting includes social time, a quick review of past events, a preview of upcoming events, and usually a featured speaker on a dive-related topic and a fabulous raffle. Membership
As a member of BARNACLE BUSTERS you will receive our monthly newsletter, Bottom Times, detailing club activities and news about past and upcoming events. You are also entitled to receive discounts on purchases and rental gear at cooperating dive shops. Additionally, members receive discounts on club boat dives and are given priority on all club boat and trip waiting lists.
Annual Membership Dues
- Individual: $35
- Individual Special when completing club beginner’s certification class (first year only): $25
- Couples (at same address): $50
- Newsletter-Only Subscription (for addresses outside of California only): $15
