Chamber Day / Evening On Sale Now!
Benefitting the USC Catalina Hyperbaric Chamber
Wed. May 5, 2010
As you may or may not know, the Catalina Chamber is dedicated strictly to the treatment of diving accidents on a 24/7/365 basis. Although we hope you'll never need it, having the Chamber available gives you as a diver a vital safety net in the event something should go wrong with your dive. Although LA County provides some funding through a grant, and some income comes to our Chamber from outside activities, Chamber Day provides a significant portion (close to 50%) of the Chamber's annual budget.
Whether you decide to dive on one of the many boats participating, or join our table at the Aquarium Of The Pacific for the evening gala, or simply make a donation, your contribution will help.
Chamber Day features many dive boats that dive Catalina with all proceeds donated to the cause. The Chamber Evening event is a dinner under the giant blue whale at the Aquarium in Long Beach. Guests are to wander freely through the exhibits without the crush of normal crowds. There is also a raffle with a lot of very cool prizes. More details on the day and evening events, along with a link to make your reservation can be found on the official site at this link.
When buying tickets for Chamber Evening you will be given the opportunity to select the Barnacle Busters table in a drop down menu. We hope to see you there!

Barnacle Busters on MySpace
Ever since we began our website, we've been looking for ways
to add features that club members have been asking for. One of those requests has always been to find a way to provide
more interactivity to allow our members to communicate with each other about all things diving. Keeping up with the latest
trends, Barnacle Busters has now joined the millions of Americans who are a part of MySpace.com.
You can find our page by clicking or copying this link into your browser: http://www.myspace.com/barnaclebusters.
The page is very
basic right now, but soon we will be utilizing the blog and friend's comment section as our club's BBS. We anticipate its
use as a place to find a dive buddy, plan your next tropical vacation with friends, or even sell that gear you no longer use.
We're also sure you'll come up with other ways to take advantage of this feature. If you are already a member of
MySpace, visit our page and send us a friend request. If you haven't joined, it is easy and free to join. We hope to see you
in Cyberspace!

"Bottom Times" Gone E-Magazine!
Beginning in July, Barnacle Busters
We have now begun posting our Bottom Times Newsletter primarily on our website. The cost to produce and mail the paper version was
approximately $125 per month, or $1500 per year. The board feels we could
utilize our limited financial resources more efficiently if we provide a link to the newsletter and print a limited number of copies to send to members without internet access.
If you are interested in still getting the paper version of the newsletter every
month, drop an email to gaydivers@sbcglobal.net
and let us know. We hope we can extend our resources farther by reducing the
cost of distributing our newsletter via hard copy. Thank you for helping our club save funds and be more environmentally conscious.
